RESIDENTIAL GATE REPAIR JULY 26TH
The residential gate will be repaired on the night of July 26th into July 27th from 10PM-6AM. Once the repair is complete we will start leaving the commercial gate open from 7AM-7PM to limit the wear and tear on that gate during the daylight hours. During this time vehicles will be unable to enter or exit the garage, so if you need to, please make prior arrangements for your vehicle.
SECURITY SYSTEM
Cosco will be here on July 25th to fix the security issue with elevators. It’s been a long time coming, but the Board has been working with legal behind the scenes to get this project done and completed so the community can feel safer.
BREAK DOWN YOUR BOXES
Breaking down cardboard waste is extremely important! By not doing so, this places a burden on the staff to do so for you. Management had two scissors placed in the trash chute room located on P1 to assist with breaking down boxes (please use with caution). The scissors are connected to a metal lanyard attached to the yellow bumper polls.
Bulky, unbroken cardboard lead to air occupying space in Savina’s containers.
Filling Savina’s recycling container with air requires more pickups because the bin is full.
More pickups lead to more expenses from the Association’s waste and recycling contractor.
BEST PRACTICES
It is best practice to break cardboard boxes down to optimize the space in the container(s) to reduce the number of pickups Savina requires. Follow these steps to properly break it down:
- Take your box and turn it upside down. Run a box cutter along the center bottom, slicing through the packing tape
- Repeat this under the two flaps on each end of the box, freeing the tape at the edges
- Pull all four flaps straight up, so that all edges on either end move freely up and down
- Lightly push and twist in until the box collapses on itself, now flattened and ready to be stacked
In addition to breaking down cardboard boxes, only place LISTED recyclables in the white recycling bins. Often, Management is finding packing material, metal household goods, and other NON-LISTED materials in the bins. If you have a question, look for one of the flyers posted on the bin or on each trash chute. You may always call or e-mail Management.
TRASH CONTAMINATION
It is imperative in San Diego County that you separate your trash and dispose of it properly. It is no longer acceptable to leave your food waste inside the trash bag and throw it in general trash. That food waste must be placed inside the compost bin located in the trash chute room. The glass items should be placed in the blue bin inside the room. Please don’t place any other items in the bins labeled glass. Lastly, make sure when you are using the chute you follow the instructions posted inside the room. The green button is for general trash (no food waste) and the yellow button is to switch to recycling(no boxes down the chute please). If you need any assistance on how this should work, please do not hesitate to contact management or the front desk. We will always be happy to assist.
SAVINA BOOK CLUB
This month’s selection is “A Man Called Ove” by Fredrik Backman. Our Book Club’s next meeting is on Monday, July 31st at 6pm in the lobby Business Center.
PATIO FURNITURE-2ND RUN
Every rainy season we get a lot of patio cushions that fly off the balconies above to the pool area or around the outside building premises. We have over 15 unclaimed cushions. If you are missing any please come down and check with the front desk to see if any belong to you. We will dispose the cushions by mid-August if left unclaimed.
